Deep Tissue Massage

Unlike a general massage, this treatment is used to specifically deal with persistent, long-term or a recent injury causing pains and discomfort, such as trapped nerves, lower back pains, knots in shoulders and tennis elbow. These types of pains are often inter-related and need multiple tailored sessions to get to the root of the problem.

For example, many clients come with lower back pains from driving or office workers with various conditions and the course of treatments would deal with related issues such as tension in shoulders, tingling pains down the legs, help with sleeping difficulties as they are all connected. As we work the deep layers of the muscle tissue, I recommend that you book longer sessions for this treatment to allow time for warming up the area to be treated and post-treatment stretching to aid recovery. Persistent or long-term problems would benefit from 2-3 sessions in a course.

It's important to note that this is a firm massage, very popular with long distant drivers, IT desk workers, doctors, hairdressers and so on... where you suffer physical strains. Also very good for sports people including footballers, golfers, gym enthusiasts.

Hot Stones Massage

This is a deliciously warming and detoxifying massage using smooth heated stones that are placed on specific pressure points on the spine. The warmth combined with massage strokes helps any tension to melt away. It is also the perfect treatment for treating isolated injuries. The stones can have a sedative effect which makes this a deeply relaxing and restorative massage.

Hot stone massage is a variation on classic massage therapy. Heated smooth, flat stones are placed on key points on the body. The massage therapist may also hold the stones and use them to massage certain areas of the body.

The heat of the stones warms and relaxes the muscles which allows the therapist to apply deeper pressure, if desired. The warmth of the hot stones improves circulation and calms the nervous system. Some massage therapists place stones on points that are thought to be energy centres of the body to rebalance the body and mind.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage, also known as prenatal massage, is a specialized form of massage therapy designed specifically for pregnant women. It focuses on addressing the unique needs and discomforts experienced during pregnancy and aims to provide relaxation, relieve muscle tension, reduce swelling, and promote overall well-being.

Pregnancy massage is typically performed with the woman lying on her side or using specialized pregnancy pillows for support and comfort. The massage therapist will use gentle and nurturing techniques, taking into consideration the safety and comfort of the expectant mother and the growing baby.

The benefits of pregnancy massage may include:

1. Stress reduction
Massage can help promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and alleviate stress commonly experienced during pregnancy.

2. Relief from muscle tension and pain
Pregnancy can bring about muscle tension, particularly in the lower back, hips, and shoulders. Massage can help alleviate these discomforts and promote better posture and body alignment.

3. Improved circulation and reduced swelling
Massage techniques can enhance blood and lymphatic circulation, reducing swelling in the legs, ankles, and feet commonly experienced during pregnancy.

4. Hormonal balance
Massage can help regulate hormone levels, such as reducing stress hormone (cortisol) and increasing feel-good hormones like serotonin and dopamine.

5. Better sleep
Pregnancy massage can aid in relaxation and promote better sleep patterns.

Sports Massage

This type of massage is basically a usual style of massage which specifically aids in training athletes along with treating sports injuries.

Sports massage is a mixture of the assisted stretching and massage techniques, it is not a form of a general relaxation massage, but one centred on getting relief from pain, injury, stress and enhancing body performance. It is usually considered as a deep massage which works on the principles of muscle, bone and nerve function.

This treatment is not just for the 'sports person' but is also recommended for an average person to an office based professional reeling with back, neck pain or shoulder tension.

Aromatherapy Massage

Our aromatherapy massage is a delightfully restorative and aromatic experience. We use essential oils made from natural plant essences chosen according to how you feel – and how you would like to feel.

We might use eucalyptus oil if your head and chest have been feeling congested; or tangerine oil is ideal if you’ve been feeling low in energy. Lavender helps with relaxation, and peppermint is known to help alleviate sore muscles. We mix the essential oils with a base oil such as sweet almond, and of course we will discuss with you what we use – you may have your own preferences.

What you can expect is total, blissful relaxation, with many benefits including increased energy, clearer thinking, reduced anxiety and deep and restful sleep.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage therapy is the most well-known and widely practiced type of therapeutic massage - and for good reason. This type of massage focuses on muscle relaxation, targeting superficial muscles (rather than the connective tissues targeted in deep-tissue massage) and increasing blood circulation.

Wondering if you should request a reservation for a Swedish massage? Check out some of the benefits below to learn why a Swedish massage might be a great choice for you.

  • Pain management
  • Increased blood flow
  • Rehabilitation for muscle injuries
  • Increased flexibility
  • Reduced stress
  • Improved immune system

Swedish massage is a great way to treat yourself - but it’s also a lot more than that. The physical and mental health benefits of a Swedish massage make it a great option for those new to massage or someone looking for a complete massage experience.

Treatment for lower back and sciatica

Focused on specific areas to help lower back pains and sciatica.

If you have pains, tingling like pins and needles or feel numb/weak in your bottom, back of your legs, foot and toes, you may have sciatica. You may also feel back pains, but not usually as bad as in your leg/foot or bottom. Sometimes, as your body compensate for the sciatica related pains you may also experience more back pains. As this is a very specific problem, this treatment will be very focused on specific areas and is not a general massage.

Clients with sciatica usually take a number of weeks to recover, depending on the seriousness of the condition and your general physical well being.

This treatment is best taken as a series of sessions, usually 4.
